Why does it matter?

Pelvic health is a vastly under-studied topic that gets little air time in oh, I don’t know, your medical care. The intention of this newsletter is to provide evidence-based information with some crusty opinions from a clinician in the trenches of an all-gender pelvic health practice. Subscribe to get full access to the newsletter and website, which includes video tutorials of therapeutic, yoga-based movement.

Here’s the deal: All subscribers get two free newsletters a month that cover a topic on pelvic health; from “why the fuck doesn’t my period cup fit anymore?!” to “why do I pee all the freaking time?” to “why does sex hurt now?” to deep dives on specific conditions like interstitial cystitis and endometriosis. You can expect an evidence-based deep dive combined with lots of clinical opinion from me and a tl;dr with practical takeaways.

If you’re into it and want more, you can pay $5/month (I’m sorry to say that my lattes cost more) and receive videos that discuss anatomy and therapeutic movement on non-newsletter weeks. The schedule looks like this:

First week of the month: newsletter for everyone!

Second week: anatomy/diagnosis deep dive and video content focusing on strength (e.g. “why you have to train your glutes to save your pelvic floor” or “but actually, how do I breathe?”) - subscribers only

Third week: newsletter for everyone!

Fourth week: mini yoga class with a specific anatomy/diagnosis focusing on nervous system down-training

I will also drop in some AMAs for subscribers, and maybe a few extra articles, too.

More than anything, I am so excited to have you here. Put on your hiking boots, kids, because we’re going in!

Who am I?

Hi! I’m Dr. Cait Van Damm, OTD, OTR/L, RYT. I’m an occupational therapist with specialized training in pelvic floor rehabilitation, and I run a practice called Ritual Pelvic Health. I got into the field in grad school, when my then-partner wasn’t getting the gynecological care he needed. I thought that was trash, and have strived to be a safe and affirming provider to all folks ever since.

Other things you might want to know about me: I’m a twin mom, I started my career as a yoga instructor, and I curse. A lot. I’ve taken courses through Herman & Wallace, Upledger Institute, Pelvic Guru, POP Up, and Institute of Physical Art. You get it. I really like learning. I really like vaginas. And other stuff.

I run my own practice, Ritual Pelvic Health, out of Boston and the Hudson Valley of New York. I provide in-depth care from a biopsychosocial model that blends modalities of therapeutic movement, manual therapy, and sEMG biofeedback. If you’re in MA or NY and are interested in working with me, get in touch!

Other people like vaginas and penises and assholes, too, so let’s all be friends!

Pelvic floor conditions can be isolating AF. Join us as we dissect all the wonderful, weird, and sometimes (okay, often) awful stuff that can happen in the pelvic floor.
