A full spectrum psoas release practice

Not to be weird, but I think we all need this?

I have this issue with telling people what they want. I mean, it’s rude! It’s intrusive! How could I ever know what it’s like to live in someone else’s body!?

I feel quite passionately that I do not know what it’s like to go home in your unique bod. My role — as a writer here, as a chronic pain coach, as a pelvic floor therapist — is to share my expertise and clinical opinions, then offer many options, and ultimately be relentlessly supportive of the individual choices my clients (and you, my readers!) make.

But! Dare I say, you might want to do this psoas release practice.

It’s short. It integrates both active and passive release strategies. And it feels so fucking good. Afterwards, I laid flat on the ground with zero lower back pain and was like, So this is what laying flat should feel like? Relaxing as fuck!?

And since so. many. people. have tension in their psoas — manifesting in back, hip, and pelvic floor dysfunction and pain — I feel like it’s a relatively safe bet to say that it’s applicable for most bodies.

Important prop note: You’ll need two pillows (or one pillow and one bolster, like I have) for this practice. If you know that you have a tight psoas, you may need less height, in which case having a folded towel or blanket could be really helpful!

I hope you enjoy it! Comment here or reply to this email to tell me all about it.
