Hello!
If you’re on the east coast right now, you know that the weather is truly reminiscent of mid-March (my least favorite month) — all gray rain, still cold, no fun.
In these moments I tend to crave comfort. I’m writing in purple sweatpants, for god’s sake, so that’s how you know that I’m serious about it.
In my coaching practice, I have been thinking so much about taking time to simply be with one’s body; to really inhabit the space of the body, both physically and emotionally.
It seems like a simple idea, and the rationalist in me is like, “of course.” But I think most people really struggle to take time and arrive to a movement practice without some kind of diet culture-inspired sub-agenda. If the entire intent of movement is to strengthen X or release Y, we often miss out on the subtle messages our bodies send us regularly, and more importantly miss out on the delight of simply connecting to ourselves.
This is a comfort food movement practice intended to do just that. You can make it harder by adding weights, or keep it breezy by just bringing yourself.
If you want more of this kind of practice, you can find it on my website, Ritual Movement.
Enjoy friends!
